The present Cape Henry was built in 1881 to replace Old Cape Henry, which is still standing 100 feet away. This "new" cast-iron lighthouse towers 163 feet above Fort Story, near Virginia Beach, and is equipped with a first-order Fresnel Lens. Overall lamp height is 24".
