Minot's Ledge Lighthouse Lamp

Built in 1860 of native New England gray granite, this solitary structure stands vigil to warn mariners of the deadly submerged rocks off the coast of Cohasset. The present lighthouse replaced an earlier one, which was ravaged by a storm that resulted in the lost lives of the then-keepers. The 89-foot tower, which was constructed with great difficulty, anchored to a submerged ledge, has a second-order lens that can be seen for about 15 miles. Its light flashes once, then four times, then three times, dubbing it the "I Love You" Light. Overall lamp height is 25".
